It’s a small line of a dozen shirts for Fall, an additional 6 for Holiday. They are all one model, hidden buttondown, all feature my signature multicolored buttonholes. I have the great pleasure to personally design almost 100% of the fabrics (I did borrow a few great ones from my son Huston’s former archives, he’s so good). These are all digitally printed by the World’s best printer of fine cotton on 100% fine cotton. The shirts are lovingly American Made!
According to many retailers this is the best “shacket” available.
My son Huston initiated this style before he went to Yale Business School and onto his successful career with a top consulting firm. John Martynec and Jeffrey Diduch at the Rochester factory fixed the eternal lapel problem so perfectly! It is mostly “overshirt” construction, but with a real lapel. Works with jeans, wear it with a white shirt and a tie and worship, goes anywhere…comfortably and with style. It’s so lightweight, the model is called Air Julian. I took 3 in a hangbag for a 5 day trip and wowed ‘em every day.
A nouveau classic Field Jacket. This is another proven success for that same guy…many consumers have purchased both the Motorcycle jacket and the Field Jacket in different fabrics, one guy bought both models in the same plaid. This is a proven success…dress well, but be casual.
Claude Monet understood the complexity of color in nature over a hundred years ago, nature and great art have always been my inspiration. The denier, or yarn filament size is the reason this multi color melange is so gorgeous. The sheep in the Hebrides Islands of Scotland endure harsh bitter cold…their wool is thicker than sheep raised in more temperate climates. A melange, often called a heather blend, is achieved by carefully spinning different pure dyed colors together.
I found a void in the market for what I call “Modern Traditional” sports coats…a truly eloquent natural shoulder, flatteringly fitted with moderate lapels, exquisite unique fabrics, fab buttons, and fun linings. A refinement of Classic meets timeless. These are all beautifully tailored with fancy butterfly yokes, inside facing, sleeve lining, and piped seams, which dramatically reduces the overall weight and breathability of the jacket.
It’s a small collection, mostly exclusive and personally designed.
Chic, but not your basic blazers are an important segment, all with just a little “upgrade” to make them special.
Forever classic, always comfortable, distinctly American, casually elegant. These ideals embody the lifestyle and design philosophy of Alexander Julian - an artist who is not afraid to experiment with color, texture and detail, creating smart fashion and style.
Like any artist, Alex employs a discernible handwriting that crosscuts the shifting currents of application. In the early 70's Alex set out to modernize traditional menswear with innovative new silhouettes and fabrics, introducing new colors and color combinations into the common vernacular. He inadvertently became the first American fashion designer to design his own fabrics.
Dedicated to elevating the ordinary, Julian is a protagonist for aesthetic entertainment. His details playfully subvert the expectations of both viewer and wearer, from the surprise of multi-colored buttonholes to the irony of trompe l'oeil tweeds.
To Alexander Julian, fashion and home furnishings are not simply functional decorations but self expression and personal fulfillment. His overall mission is simple... Create products that foster a sense of well being.
To that end, Alex has received several of the fashion and design worlds' top honors. Check out the bling...
